For the Red Wine Syrup:
600 ml (scant 11/2 c) red wine
1 cinnamon stick
1 star anise
- Pour the wine into a saucepan.
- Add the sugar and the spices and stir over moderate heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Increase the heat and bring the wine to the boil. Turn down the heat to low and simmer to the consistency you desire.
- To serve:
- Drizzle panacotta with red wine syrup.
