Discover the fynbos and reptiles of The Kogelberg with a guided walk.

Zoologist and reptile expert Francois van Zyl will host a two-hour walk along the Brodie Link in Pringle Bay’s Kogelberg Mountains as part of the Tru-Cape Windgat Festival at 2.30pm on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Van Zyl, of the company Slithering Fynbos, has worked in reptile education and conservation for 22 years, first at zoos and snake parks and with The University of Stellenbosch where he is involved in molecular genetic research. He regularly presents educational and fun talks to children to teach them what to do when encountering reptiles in the home or in the wild.

On this guided walk, he will focus on the magnificent fynbos which should be especially beautiful in September’s spring warmth. The walk, along the Brodie Link will begin and end on the edge of the reserve on Clarence Drive, just a few meters after the entrance to Pringle Bay when travelling towards Betty’s Bay. There is parking on the right hand side of the road.

The terrain is along a well-marked path that reaches an elevation of about 135 meters. Good walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, a hat, drinking water and a walking stick are recommended. The pace will be slow so this walk can be enjoyed by moderately fit people of all ages.
