Parlotones and Watershed among the bands for World Aids Day Grabouw Music Festival.

Grabouw, home to Tru-Cape apples and pears, is hosting Hope 2012, a music festival to raise funds for the Thembalitsha Foundation, an organisation with a proven track record since 2006 for assisting and restoring hope to those infected by HIV and Aids.  The event on Saturday, December 1, to coincide with World AIDS Day, will see bands such as The Parlotones and Watershed supported by a host of up and coming local talent performing at this family-friendly one-day music festival in the beautiful lakeside setting of the Elgin Grabouw Country Club. Tickets are R150 each and available from Computicket.

Tru-Cape is proud to support this event. All funds raised will go to the Thembalitsha Foundation that has seven beds for overnight accommodation and sees 450 other AIDS patients to assist with palliative care. Their work is all the more important as the local community of 65, 000 people has a 34% HIV infection rate and the foundation is the only place in the area that provides overnight healthcare. They also work hard to ensure that people being treated for HIV adhere to their medication-taking schedule – one of the most essential elements in remaining AIDS free. The Village of Hope is a similar project that supports children at risk.

Tru-Cape growers employ more than 8000 seasonal staff and provides about 3000 permanent jobs to people in the community.
