Tru-Cape Grabouw MTB Saturday, May 4

Wonder if Ceres-based MTB champion and Tru-Cape grower Hannes Hannekom (seen here with his son) will be entering the Grabouw MTB on Saturday,  May 4 from The Grabouw/Elgin Country Club.
The 50 km race begins at 09h00 followed by the 25 km kick-off at 09h20 while the 10 km starts at 09h40.

Organiser Carel Brand says: “This popular event with its “Le Mans”-type start offers three routes in the Grabouw Forest, including some of the best single track sections of all the MTB events. The challenging 50 km route requires fitness and good technical cycling skills and includes sections of the Cape Epic, with lots of fine single track in the middle and latter parts of the route; over 1200m of jeep track climbs (mostly in the second half of the course) and exhilarating descents.

Comments from past events include: ‘tough, but absolutely awesome,’ ‘incredible single track’ and ‘the climbing was madness.’” Carel says that the 10 km route is aimed at beginners and youngsters (grandparents also welcome!) and is untimed.
