Tru-Cape Kogelberg Marathon & Family Festival Programme, Pringle Bay Saturday, September 8

Programme for the Tru-Cape Pringle Bay Conservation and Tru Cape Kogelberg Mountain Challenge: Saturday 8 September 2012 Pringle Cove Centre and Centrepoint corner:

Registration for athletes starts at 5:30am inside the Pringle Cove centre. Starting point for the races at the crossing of Peak and Pass rds. Coffee available from The Anchor restaurant from 5:30am.

The Coke truck with music is stationed opposite delectable Deli – Lemon and Lime – in Peak rd.

Live music by Gary from Centrepoint corner. +/- 1pm Live singing by Anke at Centrepoint corner. +/- 2pm The beer garden opens at 10am (outside). Boerie rolls available from 8/8:30am (braai outside). Seating will be available outside.

The Dorpskombuis stall is next to Centrepoint corner – fresh apple bakes and more.

Pringle House ECO School activities: 6:30am to 10am – Breakfast available for runners and families: Health – muesli, yoghurt, dried fruit, etc. Hot – Bacon + egg rolls. Hot and cold drinks will be available. Tickets will be sold at a central point which can be redeemed at the various stalls for food and drinks.

8:30am – a Tru-Cape Apple Game.

8:45am – Registration for Recycle Competition.

9am to 9:45am – Recycling Competition with prizes for best under 10/10 y.o. +/and family.

9:45am to 10am – Judging and prize giving for Recycle Competition. 10am – a Tru-Cape Apple Game.

10:15am to 10:45am – Snake / reptile interactive demonstration.

11am to 11:45am – Puppet making workshop (kids make puppets to be used in puppet show later).

11:45am – A Tru-Cape Apple Game.

12 noon till 2pm – Potjiekos available for adults/ hotdogs for kids.

1:30pm – Puppet show.

2pm – Tru-Cape Apple Game(s) and prizes. (No set time for the end of activities, but probably by no later than 3 pm.)

All local shops and eateries in the CBD will be open for business… and don’t forget to pay a visit to Fynbos Enterprises (open from 9am) at the Country Shop, where Sunra will have her local raw, natural honey and honey products and amazing soya moisturising candles waiting for you. Swing past Ticklemouse on your way to Sunra and delight in a range of locally made biscuits and rusks. Open from 9am-12pm. Trix Pienaar, Louis van Heerden and Terri Dunbar-Curran of The Cape Times Newspaper will be among the Tru-Cape apple bake-off judges. Judging will take place at Centerpoint corner between 11am and 12pm with 3 prize hampers to be won containing: A branded Le Creuset apron; Tru-Cape’s recipe “Too Good To Be True”; a Tru-Cape apple peeler and a Tru-Cape apple cutter.

Tru-Cape will have recipe books, apple peelers and cutters available for purchase at the Hanging Rock Kitchen restaurant at the Hamptons centre above the Cnr of Central and Hangklip Rds, as well as at the Eco school.

Therese Dorose will be serving plunger coffee and fresh home-baked French cakes and tarts from The French Coffee club (speaking French is NOT a pre-requisite – everybody is welcome) at The Hanging Rock Kitchen restaurant. The restaurant will be open for light lunches from 12:30pm.

The local Pringle Bay Art & Craft route is also open on the 8th and 9th of September – viewing times: 10am to 5pm. Maps for the Art & Craft route available from The Anchor restaurant at the Pringle Cove centre and other selected shops.

The Village market will be open from early where stalls and eats will be spread out, including a sheep spit braai. On the cnr of Central and Hangklip rds.
