Tru-Cape supports Ian Bredell in his recovery

A cheque of R55 340 was handed to Ian Bredell, well-loved Grabouwer who was left paralysed from the neck down after an accident during a hike in the Grootvadersbos between Swellendam and Heidelberg last year. Ian took a slow dive, more like sliding, into a pool and hit a rock head first during a hike of the Kingsway Club. He was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Somerset-West where it became clear that he had broken his neck and was paralysed.

Sponsors of the breakfast function, held this morning in the DR Church Hall, included Tru-Cape, De Kock Panel Beaters, Build-it Ryke Hardware, Bclean, Boshoff Visser, Midas, Saskia’s Tyres, Dunmanway, Dr. Smit & Vosloo, Groenland Meat Traders and Obermeyer Optromerists.  Some 350 people attended. Ian explained to the audience that he is considered an “incomplete tetraplegic” as opposed to a “complete tetraplegic”, meaning that there is some potential for recovery.
