Tru-Cape supports Ian Bredell in his recovery

A cheque of R55 340 was handed to Ian Bredell, well-loved Grabouwer who was left paralysed from the neck down after an accident during a hike in the Grootvadersbos between Swellendam and Heidelberg last year. Ian took a slow dive, more like sliding, into a pool and hit a rock head first during a hike of the Kingsway Club. He was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Somerset-West where it became clear that he had broken his neck and was paralysed.

Pictured from left to right with Ian are his wife, Lucinda, Pastor Graeme Galvin and Willem Engelbrecht who is in charge of the Ian Bredell Trust Fund. Sponsors of the breakfast function, held this morning in the DR Church Hall, included Tru-Cape, De Kock Panel Beaters, Build-it Ryke Hardware, Bclean, Boshoff Visser, Midas, Saskia’s Tyres, Dunmanway, Dr. Smit & Vosloo, Groenland Meat Traders and Obermeyer Optromerists.  Some 350 people attended. Ian explained to the audience that he is considered an “incomplete tetraplegic” as opposed to a “complete tetraplegic”, meaning that there is some potential for recovery.

Tru-Cape wishes Ian and his family a full and speedy recovery.
