Having raised R7000 more than the previous Eselfontein Festival, owners Deon and Janene Malherbe of Eselfontein will soon be presenting a Ceres home for the aged with a much needed cash boost.

Eselfontein Farm, one of Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing’s apple and pear growers, uses the three-day event as a focal point for the Ceres community and the plight of the aged. “Huis Maudie Kriel is mainly supporting the aged from the fruit growing industry in Ceres and doesn’t have sufficient support from government so we, as the Ceres growers, need to do our part to help”, Deon says, explaining that last year they donated R40, 000 to Huis Maudie Kriel and this year they will be presenting them with a cheque of R47,000. The 2016 Eselfontein Festival, sponsored by Tru-Cape, will be on October 15, 16 and 17. The Eselfontein Festival includes a Mountain Bike event, Trail Run and Motorbike Enduro festival which begins with a 16km MTB night ride through pristine single track in the Witzenberg mountains. They are also planning to include a three day MTB stage race for this year.

“There’s lots to do for the whole family like market food stalls, jumping castles and games for kids”, he says. More information at www.eselfontein.co.za, deon@eselfontein.co.za or call 082 389 4202.
