Kromco wins the Tru-Cape Packhouse Challenge
With a record number of entries, 1860, the seventh Tru-Cape Packhouse Challenge held at The Grabouw Country Club on Saturday, August 27, 2016 was a great success.
Grabouw Packhouse Kromco won the Tru-Cape Packhouse trophy for the third year running, clocking up the most collectively run kilometres in the three timed races, 21km, 10km and 5km which also saw families and four-legged friends joining in the fun run.
Kromco lead the field with 3870 collective kilometres run while Two-a-Day came a near second with 3343. Newcomer to the race, Fruitways, ran 539 kilometres while APL snd Ceres Fruit Growers achieved 820 and 405 kilometres respectively.
Tru-Cape Quality Assurance manager Henk Griessel, one of the race organisers, along with the Elgin Grabouw Athletics Club, said it was a perfect weather day which started off cool and wind free for the 21k and then warmed up beautifully.
Two-a-Day’s Akhona Mdaka won trophies for the fastest ran 21km and 10km races.
