Tru-Cape authors meet at Somerset West Library
As the largest exporter of South African apples and pears, and a company wholly owned by the growers at Ceres Fruit Growers and Two-a-Day in Grabouw, Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing, based in Somerset West, also works to share knowledge about the apple and pear industry in South Africa.
In pursuit of this, Tru-Cape technical experts, Henk Griessel, who is responsible for ensuring the quality of the final product, and Buks Nel who works on new varietal development, co-authored three books.
The most recently published is People, Pears and the Stories they Share which was launched at the International Pear Symposium held in January this year in Stellenbosch.
On March 16, the authors and illustrator Ros Nel shared excerpts from the book and a broader talk about pears as part of the Friends of the Somerset West Library programme.
Copies of all three books, Apples in the Early Days at The Cape along with The Newcomers and their Friends will, together with People, Pears and the Stories they Share be available from the Somerset West Library after cataloging has been completed.
Books are also available for purchase at R250 each via info@Tru-Cape.co.za
