Tru-Cape donates fruit to support the excellent community efforts of Rotary.

Tru-Cape supports Rotary’s community health-screening days.

Somerset West headquartered Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing, the largest exporter of South African apples and pears into more than 104 countries has donated healthy fruit to the Rotary Health Days held in October in support of the Western Cape Macassar community.

According to District 9350 Rotary Helderberg Sunrise Club president Casper Kruger, the event,  the fifth one that the Rotary Helderberg has facilitated together with volunteering health-care professionals, included screening tests for vision, HIV, Pap smears and breast examinations and other pre-emptive screenings to check blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure.

“The services provided by the service providers (opticians, Desmond Tutu Foundations, Mothers to Mothers and Oral Hygienists among others) were offered pro bono for this occasion. Youth groups of the area as well as community members also volunteered for this,” he says.

Tru-Cape donated nine cartons of fruit to the event so that healthy refreshments could be offered.

Tru-Cape Marketing Director Conrad Fick explained that Tru-Cape supports events that are community based, encourage a healthy lifestyle and are in areas where Tru-Cape growers and staff live. “Community service organisations such as Rotary and Lions make a huge difference to the people and groups they support and Tru-Cape applauds them for their generous contribution.” he ends.
