MTB riders race though Grabouw forests on May 7 to raise funds for Grabouw school.

“One of the most beautiful MTB races around with vistas of Grabouw mountains, forests and dams.

Last year Tru-Cape helped the Grabouw High School swell its coffers by R92, 000 with the proceeds from the Tru-Cape Grabouw MTB and this year, on May 7, they plan to break their record.

While there will be many technical challenges and single track (some of which was terrain covered during the recent Epic) the three routes 50km, 25km and 10km of The Tru-Cape MTB Race on Saturday, May 7 offer something for everyone.

Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing is a long-time sponsor of this race that takes riders through the forests and mountains of the apple-growing valley of Grabouw.

Route Director Wouter Lochner says there will be new single-track, routes through pine forests, on gravel, on sand around dams as well as on hard surfaces, calling it “one of the most scenic routes available. This area drains very quickly and the routes will be rideable even if it were to rain until shortly before the start of the event. All children U/12 must be accompanied by an adult and can only participate in the 10km event.”

There will be lots to do and eat at The Grabouw Country Club for supporters and riders after their effort. Tru-Cape Marketing Director Conrad Fick says the Tru-Cape MTB serves as a major fundraiser for The Grabouw High School.
